Digital Illustration and Layout: “The Princess and the Flowers” Book Cover

This book is a collection of short stories written for young girls around 7 to 10 years old. It was named for its featured short story, “The Princess and the Flowers.” With this in mind, the cover was designed to be friendly and colorful. The florid text, bold colors, and flat, geometric shapes of the illustration were all chosen to stimulate the imagination and to be inviting to young girls. Simplicity was key with regards to the text. Too much on the cover might be distracting, so only a list of story titles was included on the back. The original book measures about 5 by 8 inches when closed.
